Dark Suns

Dark Suns es una banda de Progressive Dark Metal formada en 1997 en Alemania. No confundir ni con Dark Sun ni con Dark The Suns.

Tienen un sonido muy profesional y bastante completo a mi gusto. Canciones muy variadas con un estilo algo melancólico y triste que rozan en el doom, pero siempre manteniendo la misma idea. Algunas más tranquilas, otras más retorcidas y oscuras, pero todas tienen algo interesante. Al ser algo progressive tiene la característica de momentos de voz suave, limpia y muy melódica, otro punto que recuerda al doom. Sin embargo en el último disco se nota una tendencia más dark en la música de estos chicos.

La verdad no sé mucho de esta banda porque la conocí hace poco, pero me gustó mucho y la recomiendo. Muy buena para tener de fondo, o escuchar tranquilo en la cama.

Katatonia

Katatonia se formó en el 1991, por el dúo compuesto por Anders Nyström y Jonas P. Renkse, los cuales, tras la incorporación del bajista Guillaume Le Huch, publicaron su primera demo titulada Jhva Elohim Meth ... The Revival. Un año después dicha demo se publicaría como un EP.

En 1993 graban su primer disco, Dance of December Souls, ajustándose perfectamente a los patrones de bandas como Anathema o My Dying Bride. A continuación sacaron el EP, For Funerals to Come y tras un split con la banda irlandesa, Primordial; publicaron Brave Murder Day, un disco que seguía la estela del disco anterior aunque su sonido se hizo algo más suave. Después de estas publicaciones, Katatonia sorprendió a sus fans con el lanzamiento del álbum '"Discouraged ones". En este álbum el grupo se apartaba de los estándares del doomdeath metal, perdiendo la voz gutural, para aproximarse un poco al tipo de metal gótico a veces llamado dark metal. Con el paso del tiempo el grupo ha ido aumentando su popularidad álbum tras álbum, aproximándose a un estilo más alternativo y popular, manteniendo un estilo realmente único y opresivo.

Vesania

Vesania es una banda de Polonia de symphonic black metal.
Fue formada en 1997 con tres miembros: Orion (guitarras y vocales) (Behemoth , Neolithic), Daray (batería) (Vader, Neolithic, Pyorrhoea), y Heinrich (bajo) (Rootwater). Más tarde, se unieron como miembros Hatrah (teclados), Annahvahr (guitarras y voz), y Siegmar (teclados).

Su primer álbum Moonastray fue un split con Black Altar en 2002 y fue lanzado por Odium Records exclusivamente en Polonia. La edición estaba limitada a 666 ejemplares y cada uno de los álbumes se firmó con sangre. En 2003 se vio el lanzamiento de su segundo álbum Firefrost Arcanum por Empire Records en toda Europa. Esto fue seguido por la partida de la banda miembro Annahvahr. Su tercer álbum God The Lux fue lanzado en abril de 2005. Y ahora regresaron a la escena con su último disco Distractive Killusions.

Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode es un grupo británico de música electrónica formado en Basildon, condado de Essex en 1980.

Comunmente considerado como uno de los mejores grupos de música electrónica de la historia siendo importantes precursores del sintetizador y sobre todo el sampler como instrumento musical, así como de la realización de videoclips. Se dio a conocer en 1981 como grupo de synthpop y abanderados del movimiento New Romantic, pero pronto perderían esa etiqueta a medida que endurecieron su sonido con el uso de los samplers y oscurecieron su estética y sus letras en 1984. Su cima artística llegó en el periodo 90/94 con los albums Violator y Songs of Faith and Devotion, el primero sería considerado como una joya del movimiento de la música electrónica de esa época y el segundo una fusión de rock y electrónica.

Abanderados del movimiento tecnopop se pusieron a la vanguardia de la electrónica con el uso de ordenadores y los primeros samplers del mercado aunque con el paso del tiempo los empezaron a dejar de lado para componer una música bastante más comercial y exenta de todo aquello que los hizo grandes en la década de los 80.

Dentro de todos sus estilos encontramos: new wave, dark wave, synthpop, new romantic, industrial, techno, post-punk, alternativo.

Depeche Mode es una expresión donde Dépêche tiene la acepción de boletín o noticiario, y Mode se refiere al mundo textil. Dépêche Mode fue el nombre de una publicación francesa editada hasta el 2001 por el grupo Guaso in Your Lifes, la cual habría inspirado a Gahan en 1980 para bautizar a la banda. La revista "80-89" ha dado una explicación a otras interpretaciones erróneas sobre el significado del nombre.

La confusión del significado de las palabras "Depeche Mode" en algunos países de habla hispana, proviene de los mismos primeros discos de la agrupación, los cuales citan el hecho de que el nombre fue tomado de la revista cuyo título traducen en inglés como "Fast Fashion" o incorrectamente "Fashion Update" , lo cual a su vez en español traducido literalmente significa "Moda Rápida" o "Última Moda".

Sin embargo, al considerar el significado real y no el literal, Depeche Mode se traduce como "Noticias de Moda" (un despacho de noticias acerca de moda).
